Introduction

My name is Robert Beer, and I’m the Co-owner and Mental Performance Consultant at Mindset First. As a dedicated Mental Performance Consultant and Co-owner of Mindset First, my mission is to empower athletes to unlock their full potential by mastering the mental side of performance. With a background as a former NCAA athlete and Futures Tour competitor, I have firsthand experience with the unique psychological challenges athletes face, both in and outside the competitive environment. Throughout my career, I’ve not only observed these challenges but also lived through them, which is why I’m passionate about helping others navigate the mental hurdles that often stand in the way of success.

My journey into mental performance consulting began with my own personal struggles. I understood the pressure, fear, and self-doubt that many athletes face in high-stakes environments. These experiences ignited a deep passion for the field of Mental Performance and drove me to pursue higher education in psychology. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Roberts Wesleyan College and went on to complete my Master’s in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Portsmouth.

Over the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege of working with athletes from all levels, from high school to professional sports. I specialize in helping athletes build resilience, increase confidence, manage performance anxiety, and develop mental toughness. I focus on helping individuals push through self-imposed limits, break free from negative thought patterns, and ultimately achieve their goals.

At Mindset First, we believe that peak performance is not just about physical preparation, but mental preparation. By integrating evidence-based psychological strategies with a holistic approach to well-being, we work closely with athletes to build stronger mental frameworks that support long-term success both in and outside of their sport. Robert Beer’s mission is deeply personal. As a former NCAA athlete and Futures Tour competitor, Robert has firsthand experience with the mental challenges that many athletes face—self-doubt, anxiety, fear of failure—and understands how isolating these struggles can be. However, Robert’s journey didn’t stop with education. His ultimate goal became clear: to ensure that no athlete has to go through the same struggles he faced. Through his work, Robert is dedicated to helping athletes perform at their best while also feeling genuinely happy, content, and proud of their achievements. He equips his clients with the tools, strategies, and mental resilience they need to thrive both in their sport and in their everyday life.

Robert focuses on providing athletes with actionable tools to build resilience, manage anxiety, and overcome fear—skills that not only benefit their performance in sports but also carry over into all areas of life. Whether an athlete is looking to boost their confidence, improve focus, or break through mental blocks, Robert is committed to supporting them on their journey to becoming their best self. His mission is to ensure that every athlete he works with not only feels successful but also genuinely fulfilled and proud of who they are, both on and off the field.
